Song of the week: Science Is Golden, The Grates
The song I wanted to play is Inside Outside... but this is a PG rated blog and I want to keep it that way even though Science is Golden also has a word that needs to be bleeped. I think it is difficult to hear "the word" and it is only said once, so I'll stick with this song. Just dance.
If you like young Indie Rock, you'll like this trio from Australia-- Fun, irreverent and unique.
No ramble... just some wake up music. While sipping your java you may want to contemplate AlGore's global warming or better yet, Gore running in 2008.................
Or... how about visiting some of the blogs listed on my sidebar? Read thru my
archives, you know... back when I was actually writing?
I got it! How about some sophmoric humor? If you are a Godzilla fan, or hate cats, or love cats for that matter... This is terrific. Laugh out loud.
This next clip is brilliant. It is 500 years of art and includes some of my favorite pieces. I've seen it on various blogs and websites and have not tired of it. For a list of all the artwork you can go here. This is simply lovely. Enjoy.
Have a great week everyone!

Song of the week: Lonely People, America>
I can't say that I was a huge fan of America as a kid. In the 70's I think their songs were always on the radio and there is something comforting in that. I seem to recall seeing them on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert or possibly on Midnight Special when I was babysitting... This came from a time when the music was pretty and the musicians... not so much... but, wow... they could sing... live... The music is melodic, the words are familiar. Enjoy.
Here is another pretty song by America - Ventura Highway.
I haven't had much to write about. I'm in a funk- not depressed... I would'nt call it sad either... So much is going on in real life, demons rearing their ugly little heads... Things discovered that I didn't know. My mind is reeling from all the information that has been shared. I just don't have the energy to write about anything. Let's just say my brief blog bio is a real struggle... "I'm forever a pessimist, but doing my best to change that." Pessimism is oozing from every pore of my being. I gotta snap out of this...
Blogs and Links to Check Out This Week:
We are quickly approaching the anniversary of a black day, 9/11. Like last year, I will be participating in Project 2996. I don't know how much buzz is going on right now, but based on the lack of activity in the forum section, I fear a lot of help is needed in remembering nearly 3000 souls. On Tuesday, September 11, 2007 I will pay tribute to two more folks from Flight 93 that did not receive a tribute last year, Deora Frances Bodley, Age 20 of San Diego, California and Thomas E. Burnett Jr., Age 38 of San Ramon, California. There are many others that did not receive a tribute...
My tribute to Marion Britton last year was something that had an impact on my life that was completely unexpected. I think about her everyday. Everyday. If you participated last year, I encourage you to do so again. If you did not participate last year, I ask you to consider writing a tribute this year. I promise you, it will be one of the most meaningful posts you will ever write. If you don't have your own blog, I will be happy to post it here.
Have a great week everyone!

I mentioned that since you can't get the movie, Urgh! A Music War on DVD, I may add some of the clips here. Here are 2 more... One of my favorites by The Police - Driven to Tears.
And for you Danny Elfman fans... some old Oingo Boingo. I loved these guys. Never had the chance to see them. Don't know who Danny Elfman is? Yes you do... For you fans of music from the 80's... most popular Oingo Boingo song is... Weird Science... and if you loved Rodney Dangerfield... Oingo Boingo played at Rodney's dorm party... Played the song "It's a Dead Man's Party"... in the movie, Back to School. Too Much Fun! OK... still stuck? Danny Elfman's influence as a music composer is everywhere...anything with Tim Burton will have music and a theme song most likely done by Danny Elfman--- from Pee Wee's Big Adventure, to Batman, to Big Fish, to Men in Black, to Corpse Bride... that's Danny's music carrying you from scene to scene... Oh... and I guess his most famous theme song? Uh... That would be the theme song to The Simpsons.

Song of the week: Back in Flesh, Wall of Voodoo
Call of the West was an album that will forever be embedded in my brain. It was an album that Jimi and Monkey played over and over and over. The guys loved Stan Ridgeway's voice and as I recall they both did a great imitation of Stan... Wait, who am I kidding? I did an amazing imitation myself... I liked Wall of Voodoo because they were danceable (in a New Wave, 80's kind of way). Those less fortunate that may not be familiar with this music selection are more apt to remember a fun little diddy they did called Mexican Radio. In any event, the video clip this week is from a movie called Urgh! A Music War which I would love to have on DVD, but unfortunately it isn't available. I think I may post additional videos from Urgh! A Music War, but then again, I still have my Betamax tape that I could pop in and watch on my Sony Betamax player...
It's hot here. I mean really freaking hot... We haven't had weather like this in a number of years... we hit 100 degree temperatures a couple of days last week and well... jeez... it's just hot. It has also been incredibly dry--- we have had very little rain this summer. Grass is dead. Trees are stressed. Michael is happy, he hasn't had to cut the grass in ages.
Adriaan's memorial is set for the last Sunday of this month. I was addressing the invitations last night for his memorial/life celebration (the reason for the lateness of this post). For my mom in law's sake, I'll be glad when it's over.
On other front's I'm hosting girlfriend JoAnna's baby shower. I'm thinking about taking wagers based on the photographs on Jedi Master Rob's blog as to when JoAnna is gonna deliver her baby. Her actual due date is November 11.... I'm hosting a shower on September 16. I have all kinds of things planned... yes... sorry... Jo... I know I said no games... but well... yeah I hate shower games too... Possibly more than anyone else on this planet... be it a wedding shower or a baby shower... but... with that said.... we are going to have one game... heh heh heh... but I'll make up for the game... promise.
What the heck... I snagged the pictures...
The photo on the left was taken on 5/31 and the photo on the right was taken on 8/2. Go ahead. Place your bets. When do you think girlfriend Jo is going to deliver her baby??? If you decide to play...
- In the comments post the date you believe JoAnna is going to deliver her baby.
- You can not select a date that has already been picked.
- Also include your methodology in determining the date.
- If anyone plays I'll add the names (with links when applicable) and dates at the bottom of this post. When Jo delivers the baby, whoever is closest to her actual delivery date will get a special little prize.
I'll be the first one to guess... I think JoAnna is going to go early. My guess is 10/31... yes that's Halloween... Jo and the Jedi got married on Halloween, so it would be just like them to have a baby on that date.

Song of the week: Dancing Queen, Abba -----> this links to an Abba blog........... I had no idea there was that much to blog about Abba...
When I'm feeling blue... nothing makes me smile more than ABBA... I don't know when their tunes became so catchy... I'm not even sure when and how I learned all the words to all their songs... Is there some sort of mechanism in the brain that switches over to "dork" at a certain age and then all of a sudden you like crap music and Abba suddenly becomes one of your all time favorite bands?? Yes... yes, I have admitted here in this forum on prior occasions that I am a closet ABBA fan... deal with it. We all have our crosses to bear...
I'm not interested in blogging tonight. But, let me share this with you... There is a guy at work... I don't care for him. I think he is under qualified for the job he has been given. In addition to that... well... he kinda looks like a caveman... so whenever he walks by I play the song Remind Me by Royksopp. Is that mean and childish?
Have a great week everyone!
